Description:
This is a 3-hr workshop. A no-sew, hands-on workshop with a slide show about quilts and color standards, a hands-on demo where we play with fabric, and students build paste-ups from their stash. Learn to apply design rules and choose fabrics for quilts that enhances your own color and fabric intuition. Students create a resource binder that they will use again and again. Learn exactly what draws the eye to interesting designs and patterns to give quilts life. In this workshop we discuss keys to effective fabric selection, apply hands-on design exercises, and make a quilt applying everything students learn.
Cancellation Policy:
SHE class registration is limited to one seat per customer per class. You can register for more than one class at a time.
Making any changes to a SHE class at any time after registration will incur a 10% change fee. Cancellations must be made 30 days before the day of the class for a 90% refund*. Cancellations received after the 30 day class schedule forfeits all registration monies paid.
*Your receipt will show a full refund minus a 10% “restocking fee”.
On occasion, SHE will cancel a class due to lack of registration. If SHE cancels this class, you may take a store credit, transfer to another class, or request a full refund.

Color Sense at SHE with Annie Smith
This is a No-Sew* event and is divided into 3 parts:
Part One: Lecture and slideshow on color, trends and manufacturing
Part Two: A demo using fabric swatches
Part Three: Creating a Paste-up page based on a value-based recipe
Your kit will include:
The pattern for Color Sense which includes seven Paste-Up pages and the directions for the 1:10 quilt which uses one block pattern and ten fat quarters.
Fabrics to make one Paste-Up page during class.
A glue stick
A set of fork pins for the quilt
Some fun notions
You will need to bring:
Rotary cutter and mat board (if you can't remember when the last time was that you changed your blade, bring a replacement, just in case)
6” x 12” ruler or a similar size – Please bring a ruler like an OmniGrid, Olfa Frosted Advantage or Creative Grid ruler. (If you have a very old (1980-1990’s) ruler with lines that are hard to read, please leave it at home. That type of ruler will not help you to cut your fabric accurately)
paper and pen for note taking
a camera – digital, or the camera on your cell phone. Not a film camera – you need to see an instant image.
*Do not bring a sewing machine! We won’t do any sewing.
